Millennium – new directions in Nordic literature contains thirteen articles, each of which describes significant new directions in Nordic literature in the period 2000-2012. The entire Nordic area is included, so that we get an insight into authorship and developments in Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Faroese, Icelandic, Greenlandic, Finnish and Finnish-Swedish literature in the time around the new millennium.
The book partly contains overview articles that deal with a single area or country's literature, partly articles that go more in-depth with some of the most interesting contemporary Nordic authors, e.g.: Helle Helle, Kirsten Hammann, Jonas Hassen Khemiri, Stieg Larsson, Kari Hotakainen, Monika Fagerholm, Øyvind Rimbereid, Karl Ove Knausgård, Sjón, Gyrðir Elíasson, Jóanes Nielsen, Tóroddur Poulsen and Hans Jakob Helms.
Millennium is provided with an introduction that briefly summarizes the content of the individual articles, as well as a section on the most important similarities and differences within Nordic contemporary literature. At the back there is an extensive index with author names. The articles are written in Danish, Swedish and Norwegian.
