Freedom and rhyme

Sophus Claussen (1865-1931) has been called 'the poet of poets'. In his poetry, one finds many kinds of traces, including a landscape, a revue-like and an erotic one.

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Claussen's birth on 12 September 1865, this book selects 10 of his poems and accompanies each of them with a brief explanatory analysis. "Freedom and Rhyme" was composed in the hope of initiating further interest in his poems.

Karen Blixen had Sophus Claussen as her favorite Danish poet. He was the only one who was "free", she must have said. Perhaps he got his freedom from the particular use of rhyme in the poems?
